Introduction to Dyeing with Plants

Carol Bowdoin Gil, retired professor of Textiles and former curator of the Petterson Museum of Intercultural Art at Pilgrim Place will give an introduction and demonstration of plant-based natural dyeing specifically for wool (animal hair) fibers. She will discuss fiber preparation, use of mordants, cultivation and collection of plant materials, and proper handling of common chemicals  and utensils used in the process. A bibliography will be supplied.
